Lake Leslie Tourist Park as it unfolds.
We have been asked on many occasions, why we are not running the Tourist Park at Leslie Dam any more.
In a very brief summary: We purchased a 3+3 year lease (option to buy within the first 3 years) with the promise that this was a fully running Tourist Park with 6 cabins and 10 camping sites and all infrastructure in ground to put up another amenities block to extend to 21 sites. After 1 1/2 years into running the park, the sand filters from the sewerage treatment plant collapsed and we had to find out that the treatment plant was only built for 20% of the promised capacity. We almost begged the landlords to do the upgrade to EPA standard, (in a letter from the owners to us, they stated that they would do the upgrade when funds permit!!!) but the proper upgrade never happened. An estimate from the original builder of the plant to extend the treatment plant to the promised capacity would have been more than the double of the lease cost from the first 3 years. We lost too much time and even more money to buy the park and quite frankly, to extend the lease was out of the question after the above experiences.
We will go into more detail, but allow us to get sound legal advice first.
